Glo data sharing feature is one of the many reasons why I love the network. Aside from the fast internet speed, the company also offers good calls and SMS rates and is continually introducing innovative technology to make life easier for its subscribers while also improving its network.
What Makes Glo Data Sharing Unique?
Let’s say you have a family router at home, the router is only accessible to family members in the house. The strength of the network will also differ depending on the distance between the user and the router. Once you’re out of range, you’ll no longer access to the internet. However, if all family members are Glo subscribers, the case is different.
How? Let me explain.
If everyone in your home uses the Glo network, you can subscribe on your SIM and share it with everyone. This way everyone will have access to the internet regardless of the location they are (whether they are at home or not) at any time. You can be at a different location with your mobile data switched off and someone you’ve shared your data with will be browsing at another location as long as you still have an active subscription.
Glo is the only telecom company in Nigeria that offers this data-sharing feature and yet some of its subscribers still don’t know about this feature and how to share the data on Glo.
Like I mentioned earlier, Glo offers a wide variety of data sharing options and sometimes subscribers mistake sharing data for data gifting.
Let’s clarify this.
Data sharing and data gifting are two different option for giving out data on Glo.
Data sharing, I’ve already explained above. Data gifting, however, means giving data to a friend or family voluntarily. In Glo data sharing you’re sharing your mobile data with your friends and family that you’ve added on your network, you’re simply buying a subscription for your freind or family with data gifting.
Data gifting is not linked to your subscription like data sharing, you’re only buying a subscription for another person.
Without no further delay, let’s dive into the steps on how to share data on glo.
How To Share Data On Glo?
Sharing your Glo mobile data is quite simple, first, you need to add the number you want to share your data with to your Friends and Family list. Like most telecommunication company Glo allows each subscriber to add a maximum of 5 contacts to its Friends and Family list.
You can add new numbers when your list is full, but as you may have guessed already, you’ll have to also remove a number first to add a new one. You can add, remove and check your Friends and Family list using 3 methods. These methods include SMS, USSD and via Glo Café mobile app.
Steps on how to share data using Glo café mobile app won’t be covered as I believe that the app has an easy to understand interface. Glo café is available on both Google Play Store and App Store.

Steps To Share Data On Glo
Step 1. Adding Number:
To add a number your Friends and Family list, simply send an SMS: Send “Share [friend’s or family number]” to 127 e.g. send Share 0805XXXXXXX to 127.
Or add using USSD: Dial *127*01*[friend’s number]# e.g. *127*01*0805XXXXXXX#
Step 2. Buying A Data Plan:
Once you’re done adding the numbers to your Friends and Family list, buy any Glo data plan of your choice and everything number on your list will have access to the internet wherever they are.

How to Remove A Number From Friends and Family
To remove or replace an existing Friends and Family number with another one, SMS: Send “Remove [friend’s number]” to 127 e.g. send Remove 0805XXXXXXX to 127 or USSD: *127*01*[friend’s number]# e.g. *127*01*0805XXXXXXX#.
How To Check Your Friends and Family list?
SMS: Send “List” to 127
USSD: *127*00#
