Android 8.0 – Rumored Release Date And Possible Name

Google I/O 2017 has been fixed, and we’re a few months away from the big event. Google I/O is an annual developer conference and a platform for Google to unveil their latest software developments. Currently, the latest Android version is Android Nougat which was released in August 2016 and now there are rumours about the next line of Android OS, Android 8.0.

Android 8.0 – Rumored Release Date And Possible Name

As we all know, Google will be preparing for its next big update and rumours has been spread about What Google would name It next big update? As 2017 commences, we are closer to the launch of the next Android update. Google is expected to continue the naming sequence for the following systems which are likely to start with the letter O. So far we’ve had Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, KitKat, Lollipop, Marshmallow, and Nougat. The numerical denomination of the update would be Android 8 or Android 8.0.

According to rumour, Android 8.0 developer preview could take place on May at the Google I/O 2017. Nevertheless, this news hasn’t been confirmed by the company yet. The assumption is still possible considering Android Nougat was released earlier than last year’s Google I/O. As for the public release of the Android 8.0, fans can expect a release similar timeframe to Android Nougat which could be around August or September, which would bring about a good competition with iOS as Apple is also expected to release the iOS 11 around that same timeframe.

Moreover, Google’s flagship phones are also expected to arrive within that season, so a late-2017 Android-O release pretty much makes sense.

What could the “O” stand for in the Android development cycle? Unlike Android N, we had presumed some names before its releases. So do you think about this? Tell us.
