Its been ten years since Chrome made a public debut and ever since its appearance to the world, Chrome received its first major update in 2018 (eight years ago) to change the user experience. Now, however, Google is celebrating Chrome’s 10th birthday with a new and improved Chrome experience with the launch of Chrome 69.
The new Chrome 69 introduced a whole new user interface, improved security, password manager and customization options for desktop, Android and iOS.
However, in an official announcement, the VP of product management at Google, Rahul Roy-Chowdhury, stated “Our newest update includes a refreshed design that lets you navigate the web faster, and a completely revamped password manager and updated autofill so you can get things done more easily and securely. And Chrome’s search box (the “Omnibox”) gives you more information directly as you type, saving you even more time.”
What’s new in Chrome 69?
This is the biggest change in the Chrome 69 update, the revamped UI now features rounded tabs with a white colour tone which show the current tab by drawing a line between the conventionally used grey coloured interface with angular tabs. Of course, the new interface is an integration of Google’s Material design that has been adopted by developers over their years and also now the core of the design of Google products.
Another interesting feature is the improved password manager. With Chrome 69, Chrome will now generate a random password that is uncrackable every time you sign up for a website. These passwords will be stored in the password store if enabled by the user, however, users must be must be logged in to their Google account if to use this new security feature.
Now, you can easily personalize Chrome by adding pictures to your tab background. However, you can only use predefined backgrounds, for now, hopefully, Chrome will let users use custom backgrounds too in future updates. Also, you have the new shortcut style and the “Add Shortcut” button to add a new tab page.
Until now, when we want to search for something we make use of the Google search directly and get results on a new page, but with the new address bar in the Chrome browser, also known as “Omnibox,” you can now get search result from the address bar itself without opening a new page or tab. But, this feature is limited to the queries related to celebrities, weather, and sporting events.
Dino Game Easter Egg:
We all know the Dino game integrated into the Chrome browser which appears when there is no internet connection, Google has also added some new element in the game.
Apart from these changes, Google has introduced 40 security fixes too.
So, if you’re yet to update to the latest Chrome 69, I suggest you do and experience a whole new Chrome experience. To update your Chrome for desktop, simply go to Help About Chrome and your browser will check and download the new update. As for the mobile version, users should simply visit the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and update Chrome.
Google also talked about the future Chrome browser, they said that in the next 10 years, we can witness changes in Chrome related to artificial intelligence to make the browser smarter.
