Effects of Smartphones Blue lights and How to Minimize The Risk of Eye Damage

The questions you want to ask is, what is a Blue light? Blue light from your phone and tablet screen is the visible light spectrum (380-550nm) for circadian regulation.
According to the scientific studies, exposure to blue light can increase heart rate and body temperature and even disrupt your circadian rhythm. Blue light also imposes serious threats to retinal neurons and inhibits the secretion of melatonin, a hormone that influences circadian rhythms. It is proven that reducing blue light can greatly improve sleep.
The sources of Blue lights are becoming increasingly common in our environments today. Blue light exposure comes from a variety of technologies including computers, smartphones, televisions, lights. Much of the exposure arises from light emitting diodes (LEDs).
Now, if we’re to calculate the percentage of the humans using a smartphone, tablet, we could probably be having around 80% in total all around the world and 60-70% of youth would also have a PC. Some use their smartphone or PC for hours, and after all the chat and other things done, they find it difficult to sleep.
This has been a major problem for myself over some certain time, after using my smartphone for hours at night, I start to feel this terrible headache. This is not like that for everyone who uses smartphone or PC at night and some may not feel anything even.
Science studies have shown that It is recommended that people expose themselves to blue light in the morning and afternoon and use a source of red light instead of blue light during the night. We respond to blue light even if we cannot see the blue because our eyes are sensitive to the color blue. With exposure to light both day and night, our melatonin has trouble detecting nighttime, which results in trouble falling and staying asleep.

Although this blue light its good sides, but it also has some devastating effect. Looking at a smartphone screen late at night may affect the user’s ability to sleep afterward, decreased at night and increased during the day. An increase of blue light during the day can also increase cognitive processes, thus enabling better productivity.

Some of the technologies today are now trying to battle the issue of blue light and making the use of smartphone and tablet convenient at night by implementing the night filter effect in the technologies. But this night filter effect isn’t available on most of the recent device and the previous even.

f.lux removes the bright blue colours from your phone to help you wind down at night and returns your screen to normal the next day. Although the version of this app available on Google play store is a preview version and not a final release. It requires a rooted phone for it to function properly. Most rooted Lollipop and Marshmallow devices (5.x and 6.x) will work. Some rooted Kitkat (4.x) devices will work, but many do not.
Also, if you want to uninstall, it is recommended you do one of these things:
– Disable f.lux before uninstalling
– Reboot after uninstalling

Final words

After installing any of this app, you discover that you’re not able to tap on the install button when installing some other apps. So, before installing other apps, you should turn off the blue light from the screen or pause this app to enable installation. Also, when taking screenshots, please turn off or pause this app in case screenshots use the app effect. So, whenever you’ve used your phone or PC over 30 minutes to an hour, you probably should take a break and relax your eyes.
