When you don’t have data on your smartphone, often time you feel like your smartphone is less useful at that time. If at any situation you run out of data, and don’t have enough airtime to renew or buy a lesser bundle, your network provider has got you covered.

Borrowing of data from network providers in Nigeria is simple, however, it requires that subscribers has been on the network for at least 3 months to be eligible for borrowing data. If you meet this criteria, then follow the simple steps below to borrow data from MTN, Glo, Airtel, and 9Mobile NG.

How to Borrow Data on MTN Network

If you want to borrow data from MTN, follow the steps below. MTN lets subscribers borrow as much as 2GB, however, the volume of data you can borrow depend on how active you are on the network.

Step to borrow data from MTN

  1. Dial *606# and select the xtrabyte option.
  2. You’ll get a list of data volumes you can borrow and the price for each (20MB, 50MB, 150MB Daily, 150MB Weekly, 500MB)

Once you’ve borrowed data, you be charged for the equivalent price the next time you buy airtime on your line.

That’s how to borrow data from MTN.

How to Borrow Data on Airtel Network

Like MTN, Airtel also requires subscribers to be active for at least 3 months. Also users must not have any outstanding debts (airtime). To borrow data from Airtel NG, follow the simple steps below.

To check eligibility status;

  1. Simply dial *500#.
  2. Select option 1 (Eligibility and Help)
  3. Select option 1 again for “Eligibility”.

To borrow data;

  1. Dial *500# or *121#
  2. Select option 3 to Borrow Data
  3. Pick the amount of data you want and comfirm.

The repay method is also the same as that of MTN.

How to Borrow Data on 9mobile Network

9mobile at the moment doesn’t offer this service, subscribers can only borrow airtime, however, subscribers can use the borrowed airtime to buy data. The amount of airtime subscribers can borrow also depends on how how active subscribers are.

You can check eligibility and amount of airtime you can borrow by dialing *665*3# or simply text STATUS to 665.

To borrow airtime, dial the USSD *665*amount# or text the amount to 665 (e.g 500MB to 665).

The maximum amount you can borrow on 9mobile is N2600 and you’ll be charged 15% of the amount borrowed as the service fee.

Note: You must have been on the network for at least 3 months to be eligible to borrow airtime.

How to Borrow Data From Glo Network

The grand master of data of data, Glo also allows subscribers to borrow data as high as 1.6GB or more depending on subscribers eligibility status. Glo also charges 15% transaction fee for there borrow me data service.

To check eligibility status, simply dial *321#.

Note: Subscribers must be on the network for at least 3 months like every other network provider.
