Following the recent Apple iPhone release, which already ships with the latest iOS 12 software, the tech giant has now rolled out the iOS 12 updates for other Apple smartphones which include iPhones, iPads and the new iPod Touch.
Apple has introduced tons of innovations and improvements in its latest mobile operating system, of course, iOS 12. The new OS now groups notifications from the same app; brings features to reduce smartphone addiction similar to Google’s WellBeing in the Android Pie update, and also promises to improve performance on older iOS devices.

According to the tech giant Apple, the all-new iOS 12 is focused on performance. Apps will be now open much faster on iPhone 6 Plus up to 40% compared to iOS 11 software, and the keyboard app will also appear up to 50% faster.
Like I have mentioned earlier, the new iOS software groups notifications from the same app even on the lock screen, allowing users to dismiss them at once. Also, Apples smart Ai ‘Siri‘ gets Shortcuts for custom routines: for example, the “Shop” command opens your app from the grocery store.
Some of the important features in the iOS 12 update include; group FaceTime chats that allow you to video chat with up to 32 participants, DND (Do Not Disturb) mode which hides notifications on the lock screen at night to avoid distractions, Screen Time displays the amount of time you spend on each application, and lets you put a usage limit per day in an effort to reduce usage addiction.
Other notable specs include Memoji, a custom form of Animoji that you can create/edit to look like you; gestures from iPhone X to iPad, automatic password completion among others. Also, some Apple apps are getting a revamp design, Apps like iBooks, Stocks, Voice Memos, and Apple News.
List Of Devices Receiving iOS 12 Software Update
Users running iOS 11 will be able to download and install the new iOS 12 update. Although the new OS update reaches a wide range of Apple devices, not all iPhones or iPads will get this update. see the list of the supported device below.

How To Download and Install iOS 12 Software Update
To download the new iOS update simply go to your device settings, tap on the general option and then Software update. Your device will check for any available update and once you get the new update, just click download and wait for the process to complete.
Another method to update you OS is via the Apple iTunes desktop app. You need to download the latest iTunes app on your PC or Mac.

Now, connect your device to your computer, launch iTunes and select your device. click Summary, then click Check for Update. Next click Download and Update.
The update is about 1.2Gb in size.
Apple also released watchOS 5 and tvOS 12
The also releases a software update for the Apple watch. The new WatchOS 5 features interactive notifications, Siri shortcuts, and Walkie-Talkie mode to send short voice messages between Apple watches.
Apple is also adding WebKit for watchOS so users can browse some website on the Watch, such as a restaurant menu optimized for the tiniest screen Apple sells. The latest Apple Watch OS will come with Podcast support, as well as interactive notifications such as Siri Suggestions and Shortcuts.
Interestingly, the Apple watch now comes with improve fitness features; it allows you to create weekly competitions between friends; has support for more types of physical activities such as yoga and trail; and automatically detects when you are starting or ending an activity.
All Apple Watch ranging from Series 1 to 3 is compatible with the watchOS 5. However, first generation of the watch (dubbed “Series 0”) will not receive this update.
Lastly, the tech giant Apple has also released tvOS 12 for Apple TV which integrates Dolby Atmos, Aerial Screensavers, Zero Sign-On and more.
