Microsoft office 2019 won’t be supported on older OS version, says Microsoft
Microsoft said ‘As the pace of change accelerates it has become imperative to move our software to a more modern cadence’ through a blog post recently.
The tech giant also said that it won’t be shipping office using the older MSI installer apps. Apps will all use the click-to-run installer which would be adopted from office 365.

Support for both office 2019 and office 2016 will end on the same date, October 14th, 2025 as a result of the fact that office 2019 mainstream support will run for 5years followed by only 2years of extended support. While office 2016 enjoys 5years of mainstream support and another 5years of extended support. This period of support for office 2019 is so short lived compared to its predecessors.
In this period of support is when office enjoys updates; during mainstream updates, the office gets features and security updates followed by the extended support period where it receives only security updates.
Microsoft argues that cutting off support for older operating systems will help coordinate updates between office and windows. Microsoft has made no secret of its desire for users to adopt Windows 10.
This could be a wake-up call to those who choose to remain on Windows 7 and Windows 8.x that their time is up and if they want access to Microsoft’s productivity innovations, they’ll have to upgrade to Windows 10.
So, finally, Microsoft always have a way of getting things around for their advantages. Anyway, Windows 10 is cool thou. People should learn to get used to it.
