We’ve all been in that situation where we’re not sure of what show or movie to watch after seeing all the titles we love and new releases. It can really be a headache trying to find a suitable movie to watch from the wide range of movies on the streaming platform when you don’t have a particular movie in mind. This is a narrative Netflix wants to change with it’s new shuffle feature called “Shuffle Play” or “Play Something.”
Netflix has added the new shuffle play feature has as a separate option on it’s platform. Users can simply log in and select the play something option when faced with movie selection indecision. The new feature is also a means of having users spend more time time on the streaming platform.
How Netflix Play Something Works?
Upon opening Netflix, users will find the new shuffle feature amongst the list of visible options on the main menu. Once you tap on “Play Something”, Netflix will select a series or film from their library for you to watch, based on your watch history.
Your watch history helps Netflix understand the kind of movies you would like and after selecting the play something you do not like the movie Netflix has picked for you, you can simply click the “Play Something Else” button. Netflix will then pick another movie for you from the following:
- A brand new series or film,
- A series or film you’re already watching,
- A series or film on your list, or
- An unfinished series or film you may want to revisit.
The “Play Something” is available on Netflix web version and mobile app. In the mobile app, however, he option can be found in three places, which includes:
- Underneath your profile name
- The tenth row on your Netflix homepage
- The navigation menu on the left of the screen
The new feature is definitely a good call as I sometimes do not know what movie to watch and have to use search engines to get movies with good ratings to watch. The success of this feature, however, will depend on how good Netflix’s movie choice for users is based on the their watch history.
Do you know: You can now watch Netflix right from your DSTV Explora Ultra Decoder?
So, if at any point you don’t know what to watch, Play Something.
