Tecno Camon X Review, Specification, Features and Price

Africa’s leading premium phone maker TECNO announced the release CAMON X and CAMON X Pro, its latest smartphones duo. This was made public at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, Nigeria. Tecno has not hidden its desire to satisfy its users wants, especially its Nigerian users. Tecno Camon X and Camon X Pro is now the leading Tecno android smartphone with the most deadly camera. The X sports 20MP front camera + a 16MP on the rear to capture events as they unfold right in front of you. The Camon X pro leaves the front camera at 24MP and the rear still has 16MP. It has a very wonderful picture quality and has even earned comparison with the monstrous iPhones X even before the official launch.

I understand that comparing this device to the Apple iPhone X can be an evil thing, and you would want to advise whoever that started it to erase all the evil thoughts in his heart. But let’s come to think of it, if this device went beyond the Infinix, Samsungs of this world to go and get compared to iPhone X then it is something we definitely need to pay attention to. It must also be stated that this is the first Tecno device to run Android 8.1 (Oreo) from outside the box. A lot of us would expect to see a Snapdragon 845 or something very similar just like Infinix Hot S3 that runs Snapdragon 430, but we wont. Let’s go through this two devices even if the Pro version is expected to house a bigger ROM, RAM and more specs generally.

Tecno Camon X and X Pro Specs

Design and Display

While the Camon X hosts a 6.0 inches screen with 720 by 1440 pixels, Tecno Camon X Pro features the same 6.0 inches screen but with a Full HD display resolution of 1080 by 2160 pixels, leaving it with about 304 pixels per-square-inch. They both come with 18:9 aspect ratio that leaves you with more screen than bezels.

Tecno Camon X wouldn’t come in anything less than 6.0′ inches, so there were no disappointments in terms of size. Even with the bezel-less look that gives a lot of room for display and this design has been regarded the best in a long while from Tecno. Particularly the best among the camon series even though it was made of poly carbonate rather than metal or glass which is present in most premium smartphones. Android 8.1 (Oreo) and the Tecno HiOS 3.3 UI is what you will find on this smartphone. A hybrid of the latest Android operating system at this time and Tecno’s own HiOS 3.3 for the best user experience.

Performance

In terms of the processor and processor speed these two versions are on par MediaTek Helio P23 chipset @ a laudable 2.0ghz. The only thing feature that sets them apart is mainly the RAM and ROM sizes. But sincerely it could have been better, and this would make us wonder when Tecno will finally go from mediatek to Snapdragon.

Memory

The regular Camon x has 16GB and 3GB RAM while the Pro version has 64GB ROM and 4GB RAM. Really the margin between the  Internal storage size of both devices is so massive and that really sets them apart even though they could be expanded via SDcard.

Security (Face ID and Fingerprint)

Camon x has a list of options to help ensure users security. Its either the face ID or you go for the biometric system (fingerprint). We still have our PIN and Password available as well. The front camera helps in making the face recognition possible. It maps out and saves specific details on the face. By doing this there is easier unlocking.

Battery

Tecno camon X is packaged alongside a 3,750mAh capacity battery. Although this is beyond a mediocre range, I still feel the device could have offered better in my honest opinion. A device like this would want to do a lot of gaming even though it is not a gaming smartphone. A device racking up this kind of specs would definitely have a lot to offer in performance and a lot of high graphics processes will do well on it. 3,750mAh wouldn’t do enough justice. Although we would take solace in the fact that there is quick charge 3.0 which implies that it gets fully charged in no time.

Camera

Camon X has a lot to offer especially camera-wise and according to sources, this should be the best Tecno device for photo-shoots. It has 20MP in front and 16MP at the back while the x pro has a 24 Megapixel camera in front and 16MP at the back. This goes to show that these devices are really selfie dedicated. Conclusion
