Just last month we heard
Users with iPhone 8 and below will be able to launch the WhatsApp Messenger app using Touch ID (Biometric authentication) while iPhone X upward will get the Face ID option.

The new security feature also lets user select time limits for your app to lock while not in use, the same way you set your device security option to lock immediately, after a minute, 15 minutes or after an hour. However, while the app is locked, users will be able to reply to new messages received from the notification area.

Users can access the new security option from the privacy section in the settings. Enabling this option adds extra protection to users who are privacy-conscious to their WhatsApp conversations – even while their device is unlocked.
At the moment this feature is only available to iOS users and their no update and when the Android users will receive it but it shouldn’t be long before it arrives.
